Hi all,
It looks like Mattisz hasn't replied to any posts or updated his guide or that Snow Leopard.zip. So I made a new and improved version of his Attachment called: "A Chance of Snow at 5:30". If any one is interested go to:
http://goo.gl/nIFPHI will now try to help those of you with questions

When I try to replace "boot" in the Snow Leopard drive with the "boot" file in the Snow Leopard > Boot Loader folder, it gives me this message "The item "boot cannot be replaced because it is invisible". This message shows even after I unhides all hidden files...I don't know what the problem is...
Anyway I went ahead and did all other steps until #20. It shows the snow leopard drive when I reboot, then I scrolled down to "boot verbose" it runs crazy scripts then it stops and not going anywhere.
Can you please help?
Just install the Chameleon 2 RC5.pkg from "A Chance of Snow at 5:30".

I was just wondering how do i make the snow leopard drive visible on my desktop?? I can only see it in finder
Click on Finder on your dock, then click on Finder on the Menu Bar, then click on Preferences in the drop down, in the Finder Preferences window go to the General tab, and click on the check box beside "Hard disks".

The very last step when you drag your extension folder into the kext helper folder it repairs all the permissions but at the very end it says "
Packing new "Extensions.mkext" ...
Sorry, could not create "Extensions.mkext"
Is this a problem and do you know what caused it? Any help would really be appreciated, Phil
No this is not a problem as the computer should boot fine and after you boot into Snow Leopard you will rerun the Kext Utility.app then it will pack a new Extensions.mkext properly.

Did you use iATKOS v7? also did you update to 10.5.8?
Well I don't know what Mattisz used but I used ATKOS v7 and update to 10.5.8 everything worked right out of the box.

I was using iATKOS 5i to get 10.5 up & running, and updated to 10.5.8.
And then followed this guide
http://www.mattisz.com/hacks/snow-leopard-inspiron-530, installed snow leopard from retail disc onto a separate hard disk.
Everything works, now notice under Snow Leopard the monitor is flickering when displaying lightgrey, used to under 10.5.8, it was flickering when displaying darkgrey
I'm not shure what your problem is it could be a bad screen, a bad connection, a bad cable, a bad graphics card, or a driver problem I would test all these things. And what I use for my Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT 1GB is Chameleon 2 RC5 with these lines added to my com.apple.Boot.plist
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
It works like a charm!

This guide works, but there is one issue. In IDE mode, using the provided kexts, only 2 sata ports are enabled. Ports 5 & 6 are disabled (note that 3 & 4 do not exist and only 1 & 2 remain active)
To keep the optical drive functioning, you must move it to port 2, and you will not have the ability to access any drives on ports 5 & 6.
Use the IOATAFamily.kext found in "A Chance of Snow at 5:30" for all your SATA ports to work in IDE mode.

sorry for double posting
but when you copy the kexts you provided us with to extensions folder in Snow Leopard drive,
there's one kext that overlaps. should i replace that kext with yours or leave the original one alone??
Another thing for dsdt.aml
i can just drag your dsdt.aml to Snow Leopard drive right? without going to other folders in Snow Leopard drive
Yes you can replace the kexts I did and It worked. As for the dsdt.aml just right click on it and click on Copy then right click on some white space in the root of your drive and click on Paste.

Hello,
So, I've fixed almost everything, but sleep doesn't work. Machine hangs when it goes to sleep, must do a hard restart. Anyone else with this problem, or better yet, a solution?
Best,
Mike
Use the new dsdt.aml and the SleepEnabler.kext in "A Chance of Snow at 5:30" for sleep to work.
I hope this helps,
